Hello Hello!
They say creativity flourishes during new moon cycles, and guess what today (tonight) is? That’s right. A new moon. I’m always fascinated that although the moon is hidden in darkness, it’s still there doing its thing.
As we enter longer, darker nights, it’s easy to want to go into our beds by 6pm. And that is just fine with me! If you’re feeling the creative surge, though, go for it!
—> How will you spend your creative surge this week? <—
Aside from my typical commitments, here’s what I’ve got going on creatively:
Refurbishing a vintage bentwood rocking chair. Ooh, Nicole, I had no idea you were the furniture DIY-type of person. I’m not. I ordered the wrong size of cane, so the project is already a bust. But I’m going to finish it, by gum!
Finishing the outline for the cozy murder mystery I started in 2017. My patience tends to be very thin, so when I give up on projects out of frustration, I’m grateful to know it’s not the end of the world. There will come a time for it in the future, after much dreaming, soul-searching, learning, and rearranging. What’s a project that you set aside and are ready to revisit? Today might be the day!
On the heels of that outline, more important than actually writing the novel is coming up with a nom de plume and book cover. Duh. (Paid subscribers get a sneak peek!)
Answering some questions for Lillian Stone’s newsletter, “The Big One.” She asked me about creativity and chronic illness, and I’m eager to share it with you. Make sure to subscribe to her newsletter!
Speaking of newsletters, “Woo Your Creativity” is fully launched! I’m challenging readers to go along on an Art Journaling Adventure with me in 2024. Are you game? I hope so!
And that’s just today! What else will the week bring ahead?
Read more for the latest crazes and insights that will hopefully bring some extra joy to your day.
Until next time,
Nicole C.

The Well Fed Head Book Club, which has been meeting monthly(ish) since 2006, just met to talk about “O' Caledonia” by Elspeth Barker. The general consensus, I believe, was a detailed, engrossing, gothic coming-of-age story where we forgot by the end that the protagonist, Janet, is brutally murdered. (Don’t worry, not a spoiler alert, it’s mentioned on page one). ( Amazon | Bookshop.Org | Library)*
